About

Anna Shigeta

As a former school teacher, credentialed in both Special Education and K-9, I wanted to do more for kids than what I could do inside the classroom, which is what prompted me to go back to school and get licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I also got very interested in the evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and saw how quickly it helped people get better.

I work with children, adults, and teens and tailor CBT to help them in the way they need it. I also include other modalities/treatments in my practice: Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and Strength Based. I also began working in 2012 with the Gifted and 2e population. I have book suggestions in the Resource tab that parents and those who are struggling in this realm can read. The suggested reading material can provide detailed information regarding giftedness and the different way of how to manage it.

Please feel free to reach out to me and we can chat via phone for 15-20 minutes about what it is you need and how I can help. Within the first two sessions, we can discuss your (or your child’s) treatment plan and how many sessions it will take to achieve these goals. You can expect to find immediate relief within the first or second session. Then, if the issue is not fully resolved, we will continue to work with your core belief systems using several techniques and modalities. With your willingness, I provide homework in between sessions and this helps speed up your progress. I enjoy working in this way because I see clients come to me experiencing insurmountable anxieties, thoughts, family issues, depression and within a short amount of sessions they feel much better and their life has improved greatly.
